Today I've opened pixelfed.netzgemeinde.eu for registrations. Pixelfed is a federated free plattform for sharing fotos, see
https://mark.nowiasz.de/pixelfed-en.html
. Have fun

That's the idea of federation
Doesn't make much sense in everyone being on one monster instance...

... says the guy running the monster hub
.
No criticism intended. Thanks for running said hub, it's a good place to refer new people to

Well, I can't help it if the other hub admins aren't running such an efficient hub as mine
OK, this is a little bit unfair, I'm doing this for a living, however I have written a guide how to supercharge Hubzilla

(To be honest, I would appreciate it if there would be more (large or small) open hubs... the idea of federation is decentralization, not a couple of large hubs. On the other hand it takes some admin skills to have a efficien hub running.. although it's a breeze and a walk in the park compared to running s synapse homeserver)

Guide? Where please?
I am running my own hub too but only approve certain people since it is running on a raspberry with only 2 GB of memory. It seems to run fine but with some 100 contacts it might go wild every now and then

A raspberry is little bit underpowered 🙂
My hub currently runs on 6 Xeon cores, 32 GB RAM and 600 GB SSD, the hub's database is about 143 GB.
Anyway, here's my guide:
https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/articles/buckaroo/ef2110301dc5c6e5
It's a little bit outdated, the patch mentioned is part of Hubzilla now

Thanks, I will have a closer look.
True, underpowered, it is a hobby for me, not a heavy unix machine that should host numbers of vm's

that is how I meant to run it too but people seem to connect to me a bit more. Currenlty just over 100 contacts and that is fine.

I might switch to one with more memory b.t.w., if this one (2GB) runs 'fine' I can take it a bit further
